Do you have an endless curiosity? Do you enjoy helping others learn? If so, the Pocatello Zoo’s Docent Program may be the volunteer opportunity for you!
Zoo Docents serve as interpretive guides and present educational programs introducing children and adults to the wonders of wildlife. Docents are trained to promote learning and inspire visitors towards conserving wildlife while helping to facilitate an unforgettable Zoo experience.
Like working with animals?
Docents also serve as animal presenters for the Zoo’s animal encounter Discovery Stations (spring/summer), Wildlife Theater programs (spring/summer), and at outreach programs (all year).
The docent training program is broken up over five weeks in which trainees learn about the natural history of both Zoo animals on exhibit and those found in the Education Department. 2015 Training Schedule: Tuesdays from 5:30pm – 8:30pm. March 10, 17, 31, April 7, and 14.
New Volunteers must fill out a Volunteer Application/Waiver form and pay Training Fee to be accepted into the program.
