What’s New and Coming to  Zoo Idaho?

Zoo Idaho and Zoo Idaho Zoological Society are excited for the 2018 season. The new elk exhibit and bison-pronghorn exhibit are finished, and the wetlands project is moving full steam ahead. Construction begins this spring and the zoo team has spent the winter preparing. Whenever there is a free moment, the team heads to the lower level to work on the new bald eagle exhibit next to the future gift shop. If we aren’t too tired, you just might see a new turkey vulture and Swainson’s hawk exhibit this year.

Zoo Idaho’s education programs are growing too. Athena the red-tailed hawk has been visiting schools and the community through the new raptor outreach program. Horus the turkey vulture is training to join Athena for the spring and summer programs. If you are wondering, we have moved the children’s theater to the upper level next to the Education Building to better suit the needs of our education programs. Please check Zoo Idaho’s website and Facebook for new and expanded classes offered for 2018!

Zoo Idaho Zoological Society has changed its name from the Pocatello Zoological Society to better reflect its commitment to help grow and improve the zoo. Along with the name change the society has been busy developing new events and improving existing events. Look for Mornings with Marmie this spring, Roar and Pour, and OctoBEARfest, two 21+ events for the summer and fall, and Ice Cream Zoofari in August!

The Zoo along with Zoo Idaho Zoological Society and the City of Pocatello are working diligently to improve your zoo. Work on the new entrance is progressing quickly but we still need your help to finish the final phase, the gift shop. Any gift or pledge towards zoo improvements is greatly appreciated. Please donate online or contact Yolanda Salas at 208-234-6264 to make a contribution.
